My Bachelor Thesis

English Below |

ENGLISH

Since my Bachelor project will be written in english, it is obvious that it will be benefical for me to blog about it in English as well. My main audience is danish reading people, hence the danish is above and the english is below.

I haven’t been writing in here forever, but I think that my blog will be useful to share that bachelor thesis research process I’m working on currently so people can follow the process and hopefully learn about it as I’m learning about the topic.

In my Bachelor thesis I’m using a different data collection approach. Auto ethnography, heard about it ever? I hadn’t heard about it until my supervisor suggested this approach. So since this method requires writing down reflections and thoughts I get through this project, it seemed so obvious to blog about it. In the end I will have loads of data in my blog to use in my final project.

Speaking of auto ethnography, it think it isn’t a concept that many are familiar with. I wasn’t aware of this method until very recently at least. In short, I collect qualitative data by using myself as the “test” person. In this research I’m going to explore a new universe that I’m very unfamiliar with, Endgame: The calling and whatever that belongs to this universe. The book is just a part of a larger universe. There is a prequel to this book in many forms. Websites, YouTube, Google+ and twitter are the few I’ve explored so far. The prequel is called Ancient Societies or Ancient Truth (I’m not too sure which of them is the actual name…). Stella is the main actor in this prequel and she’s a PhD student whom searches for the ancient truth and shares it with the students, which I suppose is me among other. She will be reveling a lot more about the ancient lines and other stuff which I’m not so familiar with yet,

I haven’t finished the book, Endgame: The calling, yet, so I’m not too sure whether it will have an open ending or something totally unexpected. It’s going to be exciting to finish the book, which should be very soon. Otherwise it will be a bit difficult to continue the exploration.

The most interesting with this concept is the alternative reality game (ARG). ARG is a networked narrative and transmedia storytelling to deliver the story and the end is affected by players actions, ideas and thoughts. The most important is that it’s happening in real time, hence the name: Alternative Reality Game.

The book is standing a bit by itself because it is a puzzle where you get clues that can lead to the enormous prize if you solve it all. 500.000 REAL dollars is at stake! It’s no secret that I would very much like to win these money. But it’s not the priority in my Bachelor thesis.
Currently I have no idea what the research question should be. It’s a very broad and interesting area to do research in and that makes it hard to narrow it to an actual research question. I will think more about this while I read the most >>exciting<< stuff on auto ethnography.

Well, it’s a brief intro on what I will be researching for my bachelor thesis. Perhaps it’s not quite exciting for the most of you, but at least I hope these reflections I blog about could be an inspiration for your next project, your next hobby perhaps or just an insight to what I’m doing with my thesis. I will try my best not writing in a dry and boring way – in that case, please do tell me!

Also if you have thoughts, feedback or anything, please do share in the comments section.
